Your hosts Patrick and Helen welcome you to their family run Guest House. The Mayflower was built around 1890's and is very favourably located in a
quiet cul-de-sac in what we think to be the prettiest terrace in Plymouth and is a multiple winner, highly commended of
Plymouth in Bloom competition – our terrace is the current holder of the Best Street Category 2010 - 2011.
Rather than stay in an impersonal hotel or budget Inn, for a long or short stay, for business or pleasure, we will take great care in giving you
personal service with a smile. We want you to come back and will treat you accordingly. We pride ourselves on our locally sourced full English breakfast or Vegi option.
Free WiFi is available.
We are located within Hoe Park with the
Plymouth Hoe a very short walk away with its spectacular views of
Plymouth Sound and overlooking Mount
Edgcumbe and Drake's Island.
The historic
Barbican area is 2 minutes walk from the Guest House and
there you can see the Mayflower Steps from which the
Pilgrim Fathers departed for America. The National Marine Aquarium is here too, as well as the world famous
Plymouth Gin Distillery (guided tours are available). The popular water ferries and
Tamar Tour Boats can be boarded from a new pontoon
on the Barbican. Deep sea diving and fishing trips are readily available and great fun.
Within the
Barbican are numerous restaurants, many specialising in locally caught fish & shellfish, but who also cater for every taste, where you can relax and unwind overlooking
Sutton Harbour Marina and the array of yachts and power boats. We have visited a great many of these venues personally and are always
happy to give recommendations.
The Mayflower Guest House is also within a very easy walk from
Plymouth City Centre which includes the prestigious
Drake Circus shopping mall, one of the largest in Devon and Cornwall. The
Theatre Royal (8 mins walk) and Plymouth Pavilions (10 mins walk) are home to a wide variety of
all year round entertainment. Plymouth University (10 mins walk)
is right in the centre of the city and Plymouth Railway Station
is 15 minutes walk or a short taxi ride away.
Dartmoor National Park borders the city and is less than 20
minutes ride away, so too is the beautiful South Hams
District. We have beaches that are not well advertised – so that the locals can keep them to themselves, ask and we will advise.
Looe is about 30
minutes away and The Eden Project is 45
minutes away, so you are never far from a fantastic day out in Devon and Cornwall.
